Makeup Bag Edit: Streamlining Your Beauty Routine
A well-curated makeup bag is the secret to a seamless and efficient beauty routine. By carefully selecting versatile products that cater to your individual needs, you can create a simplified and organized makeup routine that is perfect for everyday or travel. In this blog post, I will guide you through the process of creating the ultimate makeup bag, helping you streamline your beauty routine and achieve a flawless
Assess Your Needs
The first step in creating a makeup bag is to assess your individual needs.
Take a closer look at your daily routine and identify the essential products you use regularly.
Consider your lifestyle, skin type, and personal style to determine the types of makeup products that are most important to you.
Are you a 5-minute-or-less kind of girl?
Is there a particular product you will always have in your bag, such as an iconic lipstick?
Less. Is. More.
I personally have 15 items in my makeup bag and no more because I want to grab items I could wear for every day or going out. This self-analysis will help you build a makeup collection that caters specifically to your requirements.
Opt for multi-purpose products that can serve multiple functions.
This will help you save space and reduce clutter in your makeup bag. For example, a tinted moisturizer with SPF can act as a foundation, sunscreen, and moisturizer all in one. Similarly, a cream blush can double up as a lip color, and a neutral eyeshadow palette can be used for both day and night looks.
Invest in versatile products that can simplify your routine without compromising on quality. A few of my favorites are the Charlotte Tilbury lip and cheek glow and the L’Oreal Tinted Serum Foundation.
Focus on Quality
Rather than accumulating a large number of products, focus on quality over quantity.
Invest in high-quality skincare and makeup items that are long-lasting and perform well. Sometimes you can even find high-quality products at the drugstore! Not only will this ensure that your makeup looks flawless, but it will also reduce the need for touch-ups throughout the day.
That’s where I can help you. With more than 15 years of helping customers figure out what is best, I offer virtual and in-person makeup lessons to help cut through all of the options to find a customized routine.
Pay Attention to Expiration Dates
We all have that one product we’re holding on to because it was the holy grail, and “they just don’ make it like this anymore.”
But makeup does have an expiration date.
And it could be causing your skin to have issues if you’re not taking inventory of your products often enough. Here are some general expiration guidelines for products:
Mascara = 3 months
Eyeliners = 3-6 months
Liquid foundation = 6-12 months
Powders (foundation, eye shadows, blush) = 18-24 months
Organization is Key
An organized makeup bag is essential for a streamlined beauty routine.
This will not only make it easier to find what you need but will also prevent spills and keep your products in good condition.
By assessing your needs, focusing on multi-purpose and high-quality products, and organizing your products efficiently, you can streamline your beauty routine and achieve a flawless look with ease.
Embrace simplicity, invest in quality, and enjoy the benefits of a curated makeup bag that truly reflects your personal style and needs.
