Research and Find the Right Professionals

  • Start your search early to have enough time for research and bridal previews (trials).

    • While the crazy of booking out 18+ months in advance is slowing, we still book prime September and October dates 12+ months in advance. Don’t wait to inquire!

  • Ask for recommendations from friends, family, or your wedding planner.

  • Look for experienced professionals who specialize in bridal hair and makeup.

    • If you see the cost being a little too good to be true, generally speaking, it probably is. Professionals have many expenses (think taxes, insurance, wear and tear on a car, marketing, licenses, products, rent, etc.) and years of experience.

    • Not every hair stylist at the salon specializes in bridal work. Choose someone who does bridal work regularly. This leads us to the next point...

  • Check their portfolios, online reviews, and testimonials to assess their skills and reliability.

    • Most professionals have a professional website. Start there. Then check out their social media, Google reviews, The Knot, etc.

    • Look for those who have real client photos, not just stock photos.

  • Schedule consultations with your top choices to discuss your vision and see if you have good chemistry.

    • We typically complete a contract first and have the bridal preview (consultation) closer to the wedding. But, if you are on the fence, we absolutely welcome you to try us out first. Keep in mind until there is a signed contract, you do not have a booked date.

Plan Your Bridal Look

  • Consider your wedding theme, dress style, and personal preferences.

    • Are you going for a high-end glam day? Your look should match.

    • Do you wear a lot of makeup as it is? If not, a more natural look may be best.

  • Collect inspirational photos to convey your desired style to the hair and makeup artists.

    • Be sure to look beyond Pinterest. Find real artists with real client photos on Instagram too. Better yet, select ones from the artist you are working with.

  • Discuss the look with your professionals and take their suggestions into account.

    • We want you to feel great about your look. However, we also will give you our professional opinion about achieving your look depending on your hair and skin.

  • Schedule a trial session to experiment with different hairstyles and makeup looks.

    • Typically, these are 1-2 months before the wedding day so your hair, skin texture and skin tone are close to what they will be on the day of.

  • Bring your accessories, veil, and any other items you plan to wear on your wedding day.

  • Wear white or cream. This helps you get an idea of what you’ll look like on your wedding day.

Prepare for the Wedding Day

  • Finalize the hair and makeup schedule with your professionals.

    • Let us help guide you on a timeline along with your planner and photographer.

    • Please inquire with us before finalizing any timeline. We know what time we need to complete all services and create a stress-free environment.

  • Discuss any specific requirements or allergies you or your bridal party may have.

  • Maintain a skincare routine in the months leading up to your wedding for a flawless complexion.

  • Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.

  • Plan a touch-up kit with essentials like lipstick, powder, and blotting papers.

  • Read through our other do’s and don’ts when preparing for your wedding here.

On the Wedding Day

  • Start your hair and makeup sessions early to allow ample time for any unexpected delays.

    • We always suggest at least a 30-minute buffer between finishing hair and makeup and needing to be in your dress. Give yourself time to breathe.

  • Wear a button-up or zip-up shirt to prevent messing up your hair and makeup while changing.

  • Relax and enjoy the pampering process with your bridal party.

  • Maintain open communication with your stylists to address any concerns or adjustments.

  • Take pictures during the process to document your journey.

Investing in professional hair and makeup services for your wedding day is crucial to ensure you look and feel like the most beautiful version of yourself. By following this guide, you can find the right professionals, plan your bridal look, and navigate through the wedding day with ease. Remember, the goal is to feel confident, radiant, and ready to say "I do" while creating a stress-free experience.
